Based in Barnstaple Devon, The Binge Box has grown from a kitchen start up to a shop in Barnstaple and a mobile unit - all in four years!
One of the key focuses for the team at The Binge Box is staff skills development to help enhance the customer experience and this includes training on customer service, first aid, Level 3 hygiene, and food intolerances, with sessions conducted via online workshops to cover all stores. To improve the experience for every single customer there’s also a big focus on ensuring customers with additional needs have the right access to the shop.
When visiting the shop the judging panel found the staff were very friendly, had good product knowledge and there was a good selection of products to choose from.
The 108 Bakery combines a French boulangerie on a Saturday morning with a neighbourhood coffee shop and sets out to make every customer feel part of its ‘club’.
The customer experience hinges implementing a personal approach for every single customer that walks through the door. All the staff are trained to judge whether a customer wants a make quick purchase or prefers to spend time chatting through the range options and receiving recommendations and from there each customer has a bespoke approach.
The judging panel noted the team has a wide knowledge of the products, suppliers and processes especially specific flours that are used in the products and they are able to confidently communicate this to customers. Loaves including sourdough are also freshly produced on site to a high quality. And there is also indoor and outdoor seating for customers to enjoy the delicious products.
A family run bakery based in Snettisham Norfolk was established by the owners with one specific feeling ‘the love of all things bread’. This translates across to the enhanced customer experience. The team have extensive knowledge of the product range which includes sourdough bread made using locally sourced flour and the busy shop and front of house café both have a great look and feel, making it a very positive and enjoyable shopping experience.
The judging team found that the staff are trained to a high-level and that enables them to convey confidently their extensive product knowledge to customers. This all accompanied by a smile and warm, happy relationship with every single customer that walks through the door. All in all a highly pleasurable experience with great product knowledge especially regarding allergens.
